2014 Art Without Borders - March 22, 2014
Custom Vinyl Art Exhibit Raising Awareness and Funds for the
Doctors Without Borders Organization
Art Without Borders returns to Art Whino once again with customs created by the top talent in the vinyl world. This show is an international initiative by Pranay Parikh and Mawuli Dzirasa to raise awareness and funds for international organizations providing humanitarian aid across the globe. Art Without Borders will once again benefit the charity Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières), which provides quality health care to those in crisis irrespective of their race, religion, or political affiliation. While last year’s show asked artists to create pieces using the iconic Kidrobot Munny and Dunny, this year’s show will further challenge the artists with the opportunity to add their own hand-made resin and plush pieces. This year’s show will move into Art Whino’s new venue in South West DC, Blind Whino. This newly revived Victorian and Romanesque-style church features an awe-inspiring, mural covering the exterior of the building created by Atlanta artist, HENSE. The second floor of the space echoes with bursts of color from floor to ceiling with artist, MEGGS’ masterful mural that envelops the whole of the monumental performance space. As the new beacon for the DC area art community, Blind Whino is the perfect venue to host this unique show supporting MSF while also giving visitors the opportunity to appreciate one of a kind art from world renowned artists, the chance to gather around with family and friends with live music and performances.
